Antje Heimhalt
As a civil engineer and mother of three teenagers, Antje Heimhalt demonstrates her management and communication skills on a daily basis in large and small projects in Germany, France and Switzerland. As co-managing director of a medium-sized engineering and consulting firm in Zurich, she plays a key role in shaping the company's further development in the cultural and digital environment.
Antje would now like to bring the management and social skills she has built up over 20 years to the board of SAO Association and, together with the board and management, work for women, who need help to help themselves because they had to flee from their countries, with fair chances through security, education and a functioning network for a self-determined life.
Antje was elected president internally in February and is already acting as such. The board's internal election still needs to be confirmed by the members at the general assembly.
Fana Asefaw
Fana Asefaw is mother of two and a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. She does not see herself as a typical psychiatrist. She works with various organisations such as the NCBI (National Coalition and Building Institute) and is also on the board of Paxion, the Windlicht Foundation and the Verein gegen Mädchenbeschneidung Ostschweiz und Lichtenstein. A current project she has launched with NCBÌ Switzerland is "Bridge Builders and Trauma", which is funded by Health Promotion Switzerland as a pilot project.
She wrote her dissertation at Humboldt University Berlin on the background and health and psychosexual consequences of female circumcision for those affected and their partners in Eritrea and Germany.
Fana is happy to be able to contribute her expertise to SAO and to further develop SAO together with like-minded women. An important focus for her is to sensitise the public for an intercultural approach to refugees and to develop goal-oriented measures.
We are pleased to welcome Fana Asefaw and Antje Heimhalt at SAO!
